"A monumental work of TV history...one of the best TV reference books ever written." Lee Goldberg
"A must-read for any and all Irwin Allen aficionados" Doug Diamond
If you like Lost in Space, 1960s Tv, televised sci-fi, or show business in general,
you’ll really like this book. I know that I said, “Huh. Wow!” more times than I could count." - Mark Alfred |
“Thanks to Marc Cushman’s tenacity and literary skill, you can now discover more than you ever could before about Lost in Space. ‘Never fear, Cushman’s here!’ This guy has seriously walked the walk and now he’s talking the talk.”
- Bill Mumy (Will Robinson) “Complete, thorough and comprehensive ... Marc dug deep into the show files and covered every aspect of the production.”
- Angela Cartwright (Penny Robinson) “Just as the Blu-ray edition of Lost in Space is the very finest reproduction of the series, Marc Cushman’s three volumes are the very finest explanation of the creation of the classic series, Lost in Space.”
- Mark Goddard (Major Don West) "The most detail book ever done on the series from the show. Lost in Space first season 1965-66 each episode from start to finish with person notes, changes, re-writes, comments from the actors, and personal notes from writers and Irwin Allen." Robert Vanderpool, Uncle Odie's Collectibles Blogspot, Aug 14, 2016 Irwin Allen's Lost in Space is terrific. Author Marc Cushman has revealed Irwin Allen’s life in a detail that I have never seen before, and is the first to document Irwin's early years, and the historical foundation for Lost in Space, and the episode-by-episode reviews/overview is simply outstanding.
In my own research as a writer for Starlog, and other magazines, books and websites over the years, I found Lost in Space to be one of the toughest shows to document – people would not talk, or had died or were very chinzy with anecdotes. I found the occasional gold mine, but Marc Cushman has illustrated the creative works behind every episode with gusto, and this is much needed. The photos are awesome too! And I respect how Mr. Cushman can write three volumes on Star Trek and yet be equally fair to Lost in Space. I give Irwin Allen's Lost in Space a full-star review! - Mark Phillips, Author and Cult TV Historian |
"An incredible piece of scholarship and passion. Congratulations to all of you associated with this.
It's as if Irwin saved his clippings, papers, files and correspondence fifty years ago in the hopes that someone would do what you have done. Incredible." - Kevin Burns - producer/director, TV documentaries Lost in Space Forever and The Fantasy Worlds of Irwin Allen. I've spent the last two days ploughing through it to the detriment of what I should be doing (getting on with my own work!), and I've not been disappointed. ... An exemplary work of research."
- Jon Abbott, author of Irwin Allen Television Productions 1964—1970. "This attention to detail makes this book a great reference for the first season of Lost In Space....Whether you’re a rabid Lost In Space fan or enjoy reading about classic TV productions in general, this volume is highly recommended. Bring on volume two."
